Everyday Cooking for One by Wendy Hobson

Got this out of the library and found so many recipes I wanted to try that I bought my own copy. Unlike other cookbooks I've seen for one person, this one suggests ingredients you might actually have in your cupboard or fridge, or at least be able to find easily in a shop without spending a small fortune. Have tried several of the recipes and really enjoyed them.

Excellent...was getting tired of trying to downsize from my family cook books as it never quite worked. All the recipes I have tried have been quick and v tasty.

How to Edit Cookery Books by Wendy Hobson

Review by Sarah Prior, CIEP intermediate member

This guide has not left my desk since I got it and I dip into it almost daily. It’s the cookery editor’s Hart’s Rules, if you will! As a seasoned specialist in all aspects of cookery writing and editing, Wendy shares her wealth of knowledge in a clear and concise style. There are so many working parts to editing cookery content, and what makes this guide so useful is the amount of detail covered. From how to approach recipe copyediting and the specifics of editing a recipe broken down into all its components (title, intro, ingredients, method, photographs) to editing cookery content on the web, recipes for international markets, and pages of helpful conversion charts. It is beautifully methodical in its approach and peppered with useful tips and examples. A guide to savour!

Bullet Point Life Planner by Wendy Hobson

For under a tenner, there is no better combined planner, journal, permanent to do record and gift for somebody you wish to be successful. (After gifting to yourself first of course.) It is inviting to write in, appealing to the eye and reinforcing of progress with such things as quarterly reviews. I am aware of a number of good journals and cannot categorically say which is the best because the answer is the one you most enjoy writing in and which keeps your goals projects and progress uppermost in your mind. A great start to the next 12 months of your life. It is undated so there is no time to lose. For less than a tenner your life won’t be the same again ... seriously.
